“Painting is an abstract process of discovery. The nature of light, values, texture and composition combine to create a final artwork that evokes happiness, mystery, wonder, longing, or love. A painting tells a story and reveals a glimpse into the soul of the artist”.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Patricia studied drawing and painting (as an adult) in the classical realist tradition. She used this training as a foundation to develop a unique vision that is reflected in her landscape paintings, and in other subjects, such as still life, portrait and animal painting.

Around the turn of the millennium, Patricia lived in Oxford, England, and was exposed to the abstract approach of painting realistic subjects which greatly influenced her art. A great believer in continuing education, she believes we are all students for life and should embrace new techniques and tools in the furthering of our artistic goals. While in Oxford, Patricia was represented by the Craftsmen’s Gallery, Woodstock, England.

After her Oxford years, Patricia and her husband moved to Michigan where she pursued an interest in science, studied geology, and spent a summer at a gold mine in northern Canada as a field geologist. She also worked as a presenter and developer of K-12 programs for the Wayne State University planetarium in Detroit.

Eventually she returned to her original passion for oil painting. However, her training in science deepened her insights into anatomy, light, color and values. Out of these insights she developed several courses on painting, combining theory and practice to give students the tools to be successful.
With a move to Daytona Beach, Florida, in 2022, Patricia has found inspiration in the varied landscapes and skies of Florida and has become an avid plein air painter.

Patricia is a member of local and national art associations such as the American Impressionist Society (AIS) and National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society (NOAPS). She has been juried in both local and national shows with awards at both levels. A comprehensive list is available on her website.
Patricia also loves to share her knowledge and experience with other enthusiastic artists through her teaching in the Daytona Beach area.
